Under 16 winners

The MCCC Lords Taverners Competition was won this year by Leamington cc .

From 3 eliminating groups in August Leamington and Walmley progreesed to the semi-finals from the northern group and Himley and Bretforton from the southern group.

The finals day was played at Harborne CC on August 30th

In the first semi-finals Walmley ammassed 148-6, but despite an early set back Leamington's explosive batting overhauled Walmley's score in the 15th over with the loss of only one wicket.

In the 2nd semi-final Himley restricted Bretforton to 108 all out. In a close call, Himley, having been well behind the run rate, got home with two balls to spare.

In the final Leamington scored a formidable 221-5 with Inskip making an unbeaten century and despite their best efforts Himley fell well short. So Leamington were crowned MCCC under 16 Champiosn for 2011 with Himley runners-up whilst Walmley won the 3rd/4th place play off.

Chairman Alan Neal congratulated all four teams on reaching the final and thanked Harboren and in particular Alan Wild, Trevor Townsend and Ian Gunthorpe for the day, their caterer Manisha  and also the four eminent umpires David Cook, Colin Powell, Mike Neal and Tom Gray.
