Youth Cricket

Following the retirement of Gerald Wadley (who is thanked for continuing to help part of 2009) the team of: Jon Roe, Brian Webb and Tom Gray (who also agreed to stay on) soldiered on with the help of Alan Neal. A Chairman of the Youth Sub-committee is still being actively sought.

In 2009 the Lords Taverners Under 11 and Under 16 competitions were again responsible for involving young players, parents and organizers throughout the region.

Under 11 report: In the absence of Neil Banks, Arthur Pickering came forward to help Alan Neal finalise the teams for finals day. Unfortunately this was a wash out due to heavy rain at Wolverhampton.

Under 16 Report: Excellent hosts Harbourne CC again provided great facilities and catering on 1 September for 4 20/20 matches.

After some fine weather MCCC organizer Brian Webb had  great help from Groundsperson Trevor Townsend after a heavy shower. Brian was also grateful to colleagues Jon Roe, Tom Gray and Ian Stokes for bringing the widespread competition to the Finals.

In the 1st semi-final Colwall amassed 164-3 off 20 overs and bowled out Tamworth-in- Arden for 97 in 19 overs. Kidderminster were 125 all out off 20 overs against Moseley who were 126-5 off 14 overs. In the exciting play-off for 3rd place Tanworth won the toss and were 49-0 off 6 and 148-2 off 20 (Matt Bacon 58no, Chris Hooper 61no). Kidderminster won with 149-3 off 19.4 ( Alex Hills 61no).

The final was Colwall's to lose after they batted superbly to reach 198-8 off 20 overs. In reply Moseley scored 146-10 off 19.5 overs but were still in contention whist Cornick and Nandra bossed some of Colwall bowling. Alan Neal presented the trophy to Rory Jones and thanked Kreeda International for their generous prises. Umpires for the day were Colin Powell, Tom Gray, D.R.Cook, Peter Jones. Brian Webb ably did P.A. duties all day in addition to organising yet again.
